Brian C. Svazas MD, MPH
Brian C. Svazas is an Occupational and Environmental Medicine Physician with over 30 years of diverse experience. Having practiced across a wide spectrum of venues, from hospital-based to corporate, medical surveillance, treatment and consultation pertaining to individual and population health issues, Dr. Svazas has a keen interest in service around high tech industry and its unique challenges for workers and communities. He joined the Board of the LARC Foundation in 2020.
Dr. Svazas retired at the rank of Captain in the Navy Reserve. He had the good fortune to practice Occupational and Environmental Medicine while serving the surface, air and submarine components. He completed his career as Commanding Officer of a Marine Corps Medical Support Group.
Dr. Svazas holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Physics from the University of Illinois in Urbana, Il. He received a Doctorate of Medicine from The Chicago Medical School/Rosalind Franklin University. He was honored with the Donaldson Award for Academic Excellence concurrent with his Masters of Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Dr. Svazas is board certified in Occupational Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine, and an Associate Fellow of the Aerospace Medicine Association. He was elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Medicine of Chicago (IOMC). He is a recipient of the National Leadership Award conferred by the Central States Occupational and Environmental Medicine Association.
